古民家の天井を開けると、そこには時を刻んできた梁がありました。

築60年以上の古民家を、キモノボード工房として再生するプロジェクトが少しずつ進みはじめました。

「クラウドファンディング不成立から1年。あの土地を、ついに手に入れました。」

キモノボード工房づくりの新しい挑戦が、ここから始まります。

実はこの場所は、昨年クラウドファンディングで購入を目指した土地です。たくさんの応援をいただきましたが、その時は目標を達成することができませんでした。

それでも諦めることなく、一年。

ご縁に恵まれ、ようやくこの土地と古民家を迎えることができました。

建物は、かつて中東条役場の一角として使われていた歴史ある古民家。と言うより古家かな(-_-;)

最初に訪れた時は、不動産の写真とはまるで別世界でした。

竹や木、つる植物が生い茂り、まるで森の中。建物も長い年月を感じる姿でしたが、その景色の奥に、この場所の可能性を感じました。

まずはプロの力を借りて敷地を整備し、今後の計画を立てます。

そして、いよいよ建物のリノベーションが始まりました。

天井を開けると現れたのは、何十年もの間この建物を支え続けてきた力強い丸太梁。

その姿を見上げながら、「この場所で新しいものづくりが始まる」と胸が高鳴りました。

キモノボードは、着物に新しい命を吹き込むものづくり。

この古民家もまた、歴史を受け継ぎながら、新しい価値を生み出す工房へと生まれ変わっていきます。
そんな想いを込めながら、一歩ずつ工房づくりを進めています。

ここは、キモノボードの工房棟と、一部、生活棟になる予定です。

完成まではまだ時間がかかりますが、6年前に始めた自宅リノベーションと同じように、成功も失敗も、その過程をありのまま記録していこうと思います。
完成までにはまだ時間がかかりますが、その過程も含めて、この場所の物語として、この場所の成長を一緒に見守っていただけたら嬉しいです。

Atelier Renovation Vol.1

When We Opened the Ceiling, We Discovered the Story Hidden Above

Our journey to transform a traditional Japanese farmhouse into the home of KIMONO BOARD has officially begun.

One year after our crowdfunding campaign fell short, we finally have the place we dreamed of.

This is where our new adventure begins.

Last year, we launched a crowdfunding campaign to purchase this property. Thanks to the incredible support and encouragement we received, we came close—but unfortunately, we didn’t reach our goal.

Even so, we never gave up.

A year later, through a series of wonderful connections and opportunities, we were finally able to purchase this old farmhouse.

The building once served as part of the former Nakatojo Village Office many decades ago. Today, it is less of a “historic building” and more of a weathered old farmhouse—but that’s exactly what makes it so special.

When we first arrived, it looked nothing like the real estate photos.

The property had been overtaken by bamboo, trees, and climbing vines. It felt more like a small forest than a place where people once lived.

Yet beneath all of that, we could see its hidden potential.

With the help of professionals, we first cleared the land and began planning its future.

Now, the renovation has truly begun.

As we removed the old ceiling, magnificent hand-hewn timber beams emerged—strong, beautiful, and still supporting the house after more than sixty years.

Standing beneath them, we couldn’t help but imagine the creativity and craftsmanship that will one day fill this space.

At KIMONO BOARD, we believe in giving treasured vintage kimono a new life.

In much the same way, this old farmhouse is beginning a new chapter—honoring its history while becoming a place where new ideas, art, and stories can be created.

Step by step, we’re bringing that vision to life.

This property will become the home of our KIMONO BOARD atelier, along with part of our living space.

There’s still a long road ahead, but just as we documented the renovation of our own home six years ago, we’ll continue sharing this journey honestly—the successes, the challenges, and everything in between.
